Prevents Belt Reversal During Operation
Anti-reverse idlers are key components in belt conveyors, primarily functioning to prevent belt reversal during operation, ensuring system safety and worker protection. Here are detailed information about anti-reverse idlers:
Working Principle & Structure:
Utilizing a ratchet mechanism, an anti-reverse device is added behind the standard idler bearing housing. The device contains 4 anti-reverse blocks, and a corresponding groove is machined on the idler shaft. During normal belt rotation, centrifugal force disengages the blocks from the groove, allowing normal idler rotation. If belt breakage causes reversal, the blocks engage the groove, preventing reverse motion.
Mechanical ratchet-type idlers comprise pawls, ratchets, pins, and springs located symmetrically between the two bearing housings. Rotation creates centrifugal force; combined with mechanical spring force, this enables reverse blocking.
Anti-reverse bearing type idlers primarily feature a modified non-contact one-way rotation structure with two sets of roller-type one-way clutches. Operation relies on spring energy storage, wedge friction self-locking, and centrifugal force during rotation.
Application Scenarios:
Widely used in coal mines, especially on steeply inclined upward conveyors, to prevent material and belt slippage due to breakage, avoiding equipment damage and roadway blockage.
Also suitable for dusty, corrosive outdoor environments like mines, power plants, steel mills, quarries, cement plants, coking plants, coal washing plants, salt works, alkali plants, fertilizer plants, docks, etc.
Advantages:
Simple structure, large reverse torque capacity, no noise during operation, no wear, maintenance-free, low operating cost, safe and reliable.
Provides additional safety, reducing disaster losses from belt breakage accidents.
Technical Conditions:
According to NB/T 10947-2022 standard, detailed technical requirements are specified for design, manufacture, inspection, and use to enhance system safety and reliability.
In summary, anti-reverse idlers are vital safety devices in belt conveyors. Their unique structure and working principle effectively prevent belt reversal, ensuring safe and stable system operation.
